Statement of Purpose *

Singing is modeled and commanded in Scripture and is shown to be essential to a Spirit-filled and Word-saturated community of believers (Psalm 33:1-3; Psalm 92:1-4; Ephesians 5:18-19; Colossians 3:16-17). The music ministry of Evangel Baptist Church seeks to glorify God and edify His church by showing forth His beauty and truth in song. Each musician must understand that his/her role in this ministry is not only musical, but spiritual. We will strive not only for musicality and creativity, but, first and foremost, for holy lives that “proclaim the praises of the One who called [us] out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9).

Expectations *

1. Maintain a humble, obedient, and growing walk with the Lord and love for others.
2. Take steps to grow musically throughout your time playing with the team. (Examples could include – establishing a regular practice routine, taking lessons, learning new music, learning a new instrument, taking a music theory lesson, composing, writing song lyrics, expanding your musical tastes, etc.)
3. Attend week-night rehearsals the week before you are scheduled to play/sing.
4. Attend Sunday morning sound checks the days you are scheduled to play/sing.
5. Adhere to our posted policy on platform attire.
6. Learn the Planning Center Online app to receive scheduling alerts and reminders.
7. Know your music and be all there on Sunday morning with a heart of worship and assisting God’s people in song.
